Seeking VOICE
If you have a unique voice and a completed manuscript, send us a query email.
More specifically, our tastes tend toward:
Speculative fiction, noir, emphasis on cynical attitudes/sexual motivation, Chuck Palahniuk-ish, edgy themes, strong voice, good narrative or unique narrative, but no pedophilia or bestiality. We don't want genre fiction, commercial fiction, anything too mainstream, knockoffs of classics, family memoirs, rhymed verse, traditional romance, anything historical, or Nicholas Sparks.
All work should be emailed to [email protected]. In the subject line, state QUERY then the title of your piece and your name. Write us a short, emphasis on the short, query letter and paste your short sample directly into the email. We rarely open attachments or click on links. We publish one or two titles annually.
- FICTION: Your story should grab us from the first chapter, the first few pages, the first paragraph. Is it commercial or genre fiction? We're probably not interested. Take us on a ride. Email us the first three chapters.
- MEMOIR: We want to be enthralled by your unique perspective and read subject matter that is edgy, taboo, or laugh-our-ass-off loud. Email us ten pages.
- POETRY: Prose, free-form, book length, haiku, show us what you've got. Email us a sample of three pieces or three pages. We're looking for collections of no less than twenty poems.
